 Jemma Kadzh

Jemma Kadzh lives in Russia. She is a well-known artist specializing in the manufacture of designer teddy bears. Jemma created more than 450 varieties of Teddy Bears. Jemma is the winner of the international competition «Swiss Teddy Festival 2008» (Switzerland).

TeddyMania» exhibition held in Moscow from 2004 through 2007 was founded by Jemma. She is an author of the book “Teddy Bear and his Friends” (Design Kora, 2005). Jemma also authored “Teddy Bears” which was published by Olma-Press in 2006.

Jemma gives classes and handles workshops. Jemma’s unique handicraft gained her numerus followers and apprentices among today’s teddy-making artists in Russia.

2002 – Jemma graduated from the School of Doll Design of Svetlana Voskresenskaya, where she studied “Teddy Bear” and “Porcelain Doll” classes. That year marked the start of her artist career. Jemma took part in an exhibition called “Debut” which was organized and held by Vakhtangov Doll Gallery.

2003 – 2004 – Jemma designed her trademark “live effect” stuffing method. The first and one-of-a-kind studio specializing in Teddy Bears –«DIKKI STUDIO» – was founded by Jemma. She participated in the Teddy Bear Total 2004 Festival (Germany). The year 2004 saw the inception of «TeddyMania 2004», an exhibition of collector teddy bears. It was the first exhibition of its kind held in Russia.

2005 – Jemma penned “Teddy Bear and his Friends” which was published by Design Kora publishing house. It was the first how-to-make a teddy bear book that hit Russia’s bookstores. Jemma was giving classes and handling workshops in the School of Doll Design of Svetlana Voskresenskaya. She was a participant in the 2005 Teddy Bear Total Festival (Germany).A seminar of Anna Koetse (Holland) was held during «TeddyMania 2005» exhibition organized by Jemma.

2006 – Jemma set up the first personal exhibition to mark the 5th anniversary of her work. The second self-teacher book «Teddy Bears» written by Jemma was published by Olma Press. «TeddyMania 2006» exhibition became a reality thanks to Jemma’s relentless effort and support.

2007 - Jemma participated in «MosFair 2007» exhibition. There were four workshops for Russian artists i.e. Teddy-ists organized by Jemma. She set up an exhibition of Teddy Bears that opened during the 8th Congress of United Russia Party. The teddy bears designed by Jemma were also at display during the party congress. Jemma participated in the 7th International Exhibition under the auspices of the Week of Decorating of Mezzanine Magazine. «TeddyMania 2008» exhibition was organized by Jemma in collaboration with Teddy Bears Magazine (Teddy Medvedi Magazine).

2008 - Jemma was one of the participants in «MosFair 2008» exhibition which served a launching pad for her “Those well-known bears!” project. The Best Image of Teddy Bear Award was established by Jemma for the abovementioned contest. Jemma took part in «Teddy Bear Total 2008» Festival (Germany), «Swiss Teddy Festival 2008» (Switzerland), «Dolls Time No.2» (held in Saint Petersburg, Russia). The Bear by Jemma named Revue won her the first prize at Swiss Teddy Festival in 2008. Jemma also participated in the exhibitions organized by Vakhtangov Doll Gallery in the Central House of Artists (Moscow). Jemma ran her first outdoor seminar for Siberian artists.

2009 – Jemma gave several master classes during the exhibition in Vakhtangov Doll Gallery. She participates in «MosFair 2009» exhibition. Jemma is a member of jury with the «Golden Potap» contest. She is also a participant in «Teddy Bear Total 2009» Festival (Germany). At competition  "Golden George" (Germany) Jemma Kadzh occupies 1 place in a category "Premium class", a nomination 3.

 

Jemma attended classes of famous foreign artists specializing in Teddy Bears such as Anna Koetse (Holland), Robin Folli (USA) and Loris Hancock (Australia).

Jemma made more than 450 varieties of Teddy Bears in the last seven years.
Teddy Bears made by Jemma can be found in private collections in Russia, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain, USA, Canada, Australia and Japan. Several patterns of Jemma’s Teddy Bears were purchased by Baerenhaus company.
